Weekend Getaway to Denver

Over the weekend I was blessed enough to travel to Denver to visit Seth. We hadn't seen each other since he moved there in mid-September so it was nice to get some quality time together! This past summer I was living in Colorado working at a summer day camp during the week & rock climbing, hiking, yoga, reading, exploring on the weekends. It was a lovely summer. As most people know about me: I have always loved Colorado and wanted to live there so this summer was a trial run. The job ended up to be not so great but the friends I made are amazing and the memories are priceless. It was so nice and comforting to be back in Denver for a weekend. Arrived late Thursday night and Seth picked me up from the airport. After only a few hrs of sleep we had to be up at 6am to meet the Sean Hagwell team for a photo shoot. It was so great to go to work with him! I really loved seeing the type of team they are, the creative process, the lighting, and the outcome after edits. Friday day was pretty exhausting but after work we were able to relax before heading downtown. We met Sean & Heather @ Sushi Sasa for an amazing dinner of sushi followed by fried cheesecake (so good!) After dinner Seth & I headed to The Highlands to meet my dear friend Melissa & her bf Brandon as well as Melissa's roommate Jamie & her bf Greg. So much fun! It was lovely to see them, then the infamous Matt Allender & Joe Villano arrived : ) I was so happy to be out with all my friends in Denver! I missed them so much and everyone was asking 'when are you going to move back??' I do miss it. That is for sure. Its a little slower, more simple city, not as big loud and dirty as Chicago, and of course the winning points are for the beautiful landscape surrounding the city! Those mountains are to die for, especially now with the snow covered caps. (Falling in love with Colorado all over again) Friday night was such a blast, and of course more than seeing old friends I got to spend the entire day and evening with Seth.

Saturday morning we went out to brunch at my favorite place called Watercourse Foods, they serve vegetarian/vegan fare with mostly local ingredients. Amazing.

After that lovely morning we headed down to Littleton where I used to live and visited Holly, Aaron, and Deagan for a bit. It was so nice to see them! Then we headed on to Golden to go hiking for the afternoon.

After our amazingly beautiful hike we headed back to Arvada to grab some coffee at this great place called Two Rivers Coffee and grab groceries at Vitamin Cottage to make homemade potato soup for dinner. Following dinner there was some Wii blowing then we got ready and headed downtown to a place called The Shoppe. Its this adorable little cafe where they have cupcakes, pastries, and cereal. You can make your own cereal sundae. PLUS they have shelves full of every game you love! We ate cupcakes, drank milk, and played candyland. Pretty much a perfect Saturday.
Sunday we slept in and did Sunday things, drinking coffee and reading our bibles on the sofa, guitar center, then Barnes and Noble which is one of my favorite weekend things to do when you can dillydally around the magazines and books for hours when it is chilly outside. Later in the afternoon Seth & I went for a photo walk down by the river near his house and that was an amazing afternoon. Beautiful fall colors & a perfect breeze.
